At the Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage Introductory 1 course.

At the Lotus Palm School in Montreal: This is the borderland between yoga and massage, meditation and dance.
A school respectful to a Thai lineage and its wisdom,
now well adapted to North America,
and growing rapidly in popularity as a massage technique.

We worked, in a rotation of partners,
giving and receiving the flow of the form.
Moving with care, in a whole body rhythm
we took a variation of warrior posture, corrected alignment,
and traced sen lines on the legs and feet.
Always, coming back to breath and meditation,
to the intent to give a good massage, to be
skilfully compassionate.

Thanks to Albert Swiercz for a deft presentation.

It was not all bliss and balance, however.
Especially when Kam Thye Chow exulted about
how the form was like a dance…

Remembered agony of
social dance classes,
last to get the step,
and then not even.
Lost in a tango dance
next move forgotten,
another piling up.
Gone over the horizon
of this event.

In the following week, I noticed another hoped-for outcome was already occurring: a shift in my yoga teaching. There is a shift of perspective on some of the postures, and a greater confidence, from a sense of the protocol of touch, in helping people in my classes.
